Paras HEC Hospital, Ranchi, has reported a major success in treating a 54-year-old patient with severe heart complications, including diabetes. The patient was admitted to the emergency department in critical condition, struggling with acute respiratory distress, severe chest discomfort, and critically low blood pressure. The medical team promptly initiated life-saving measures, including mechanical ventilation and CCU care.

Medical history indicated that the patient had undergone stenting in all three coronary arteries approximately two months ago. However, a subsequent angiography revealed alarming blockages: two stents were found to be 99% occluded, the third showed a 40-50% blockage, and a critical 60-70% blockage affected the Left Main Artery. The patient was in a state of cardiogenic shock and heart failure, with their heart pumping only 20-25% of its capacity (ejection fraction), a dire prognosis.

In a decisive move to save the patient’s life, Dr. Kunwar Abhishek Arya, Consultant Cardiologist, and his team performed an IVUS-guided Left Main Bifurcation Stenting. This is considered one of the most technically challenging and high-risk cardiac interventions. The procedure was executed flawlessly, resulting in immediate stabilization and rapid improvement of the patient’s condition. The patient was discharged within an impressive two-day timeframe.

Follow-up assessments three months later indicated a significant recovery, with the patient’s ejection fraction improving to around 40%, allowing for a return to a normal lifestyle. Dr. Arya credited the success to timely intervention, advanced technology, and the team’s expertise. Dr. Nitish Kumar, the hospital’s Facility Director, celebrated the team’s achievement, stating it reflects Paras HEC Hospital’s commitment to delivering advanced and life-saving cardiac care.
