A pall of gloom descended on the Congress party as news broke of senior leader Bhimanna Naik’s demise, eliciting emotional responses from Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and others. The veteran politician’s death has left a significant vacuum in Karnataka’s Congress landscape.

In separate tweets, Kharge mourned the loss of a ‘dedicated organizer and people’s champion,’ while Rahul Gandhi called Naik ‘a pillar of strength’ for the party’s foot soldiers. Their words captured the essence of Naik’s four-decade-long commitment.

Naik passed away at 78 due to age-related ailments in a Bidar hospital. His political stature grew through persistent efforts in constituency development, making him a household name in Bidar and beyond.

Karnataka Congress chief and CM Siddaramaiah announced official mourning, with all party events postponed. Ministers and MLAs shared personal stories, underscoring Naik’s influence beyond formal roles.

From humble beginnings as a farmer’s son, Naik climbed the ranks, serving as district president and state general secretary. His interventions during the Cauvery water dispute and farmer agitations showcased his mass mobilization skills.

Analysts point out that Naik’s passing could affect Congress’s dynamics in Kalyana Karnataka, a region crucial for state elections. His bridge-building between factions earned him respect across divides.

The funeral procession drew thousands, with leaders from rival parties joining. Kharge’s team coordinated relief for the bereaved family, highlighting institutional support.

Naik’s legacy includes pioneering self-help groups for women and youth training programs, aligning with Congress’s social justice agenda. Party workers vow to carry forward his vision amid current challenges.

Condolences from across India Politics reflect Naik’s national footprint through AICC roles. As the party honors him, reflections on sustaining veteran leadership emerge prominently.
