A Congress leader has strongly refuted claims made by some news channels regarding a CCTV footage aired from the Ranchi Assembly premises. The video, which shows the leader with Babulal Marandi on December 10, 2025, near a main gate of the Vidhan Sabha, has been sensationalized, according to the leader, who decried the attempt to create a “false and misleading narrative.”
The leader clarified that the footage captured an ordinary exchange in a public area of the Assembly, a place frequented by legislators, media, and administrative personnel. The assertion that the leader handed a pen drive to Marandi was dismissed as “entirely false, baseless, and imaginary.” The actual context of the meeting, as explained by the leader, was a discussion pertaining to a news report published in a newspaper. This was a matter the leader planned to address in the Assembly, but Marandi had already raised it.
The discussion took place by chance at the Assembly gate, a well-trafficked public space. The leader emphasized that the conversation was about the newspaper report and that no objects were exchanged. The leader’s hands were occupied with a mobile phone, newspaper, and a handkerchief, and the entire interaction occurred in clear daylight.
Highlighting the public nature of the encounter, the leader asked, “If I had any ulterior motive, would I do something like that in such a public space, with so many people around, and under constant CCTV surveillance?” The leader urged the public to review the footage and determine the facts for themselves, stressing that it was a discussion, not a handover.
The leader also suggested that this incident is part of a larger “well-planned conspiracy” designed to undermine them since they joined the Congress. The leader referred to a persistent “special lobby” with a history of attempting to divide Congress MLAs and obstruct party matters. Despite these alleged machinations, the leader reaffirmed their dedication to being a strong voice for the public and to raising issues vital to the people’s welfare.
