To celebrate Raksha Bandhan, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles partnered with TV9 Network to create ‘Raksha Ka Bandhan,’ an initiative designed to honor truck drivers. Female staff at the Durga Line in Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur plant made special rakhis to be given to truck drivers.

The women at the Durga plant contribute to the construction of the safest trucks, which include features such as crash-tested cabins and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). They understand that these trucks are integral to the drivers’ livelihoods. The women consider each driver as part of their extended family, even though they may never have met.

The rakhis symbolized wishes for safe travel and a promise of care and protection. The rakhis journeyed from Jamshedpur to the Kalamboli Transport Nagar in Navi Mumbai, passing through many states. Truck drivers in several locations had the rakhis tied on their wrists. This gesture offered emotional support and validated the importance of the drivers’ work across the nation’s highways.

TV9 Network documented the entire initiative, recording the creation of the rakhis, the emotional messages from the female employees, and the heartfelt moments when the rakhis were tied onto the drivers’ wrists. The coverage transformed a corporate initiative into a widespread celebration of human connection.

This initiative reinforced Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles’ commitment to safety and care. It acknowledged and honored India’s truck drivers who work tirelessly to keep the country moving. The drivers were reminded that their contributions are valued, and their safety is a priority.
