Leader of Opposition and BJP State President Babulal Marandi has raised serious questions about a police award allegedly being given to Constable Ranjit Rana of JAP-2, directed at Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Marandi acknowledged the CM’s authority to award anyone but expressed concern over Rana’s nomination, citing his alleged lack of involvement in Naxal operations. Instead, Marandi claims Rana has worked as a computer operator for Anurag Gupta since 2015 and is allegedly involved in Gupta’s alleged illegal dealings. This individual, Marandi stated, has been previously brought to the CM’s attention for his alleged involvement in ‘black deeds’ and is known within the police force for his involvement in various illicit activities, including coal smuggling. Marandi vehemently questioned the criteria for awarding Rana a ‘commendable service’ medal, asking if assisting senior officials in their alleged corrupt practices and illegal profiteering is now considered a ‘commendable service’ by the Jharkhand government. He suggested that the CM should be made aware if this is an oversight, but ultimately, the decision rests with him.
