A spokesperson from the Chinese National Defense Ministry stated that China and India should collaborate to ensure the security and harmony in their border areas. This statement was released on Thursday. The timing of this announcement aligns with the upcoming visit of the Indian Prime Minister to China. The spokesperson, Zhang Xiaogang, made the statement during a press conference that reviewed the recent 24th round of talks between the special representatives from China and India focused on their border dispute. During these discussions, a 10-point agreement was reached. The agreement outlined the use of diplomatic and military avenues for the management and control of the border. India’s representation at the talks was led by NSA Ajit Doval. Zhang emphasized that the discussions involved an open and detailed exchange on the China-India border issues, undertaken in a spirit of positivity and constructiveness. The Doval-Wang meeting led to the realization of five key outcomes, including an expert group under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) that aims to accelerate the border demarcation process.
