In Khagaria, Bihar, a vigilance team arrested a female ASI and a watchman for accepting a bribe. The ASI requested the bribe from the victim to expedite the investigation and submit the charge sheet. Upon receiving the complaint, the vigilance team launched an operation, leading to the arrest of both individuals.
The case involved a bank loan, with Anil Kumar Shah’s wife as the complainant, who filed it at the Sadar police station. ASI Seema Kumari was in charge of the investigation. The initial demand was 10,000 rupees, which later rose to 20,000 rupees, for the investigation and filing of the charge sheet. Watchman Veeru Paswan was also implicated in the bribery. The victim, Mamta Devi, brought the matter to her husband’s attention.
