India’s sensational win at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 has sparked immense pride and excitement nationwide. As supporters eagerly await details of a potential victory parade, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that no official celebrations are currently planned. According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, the immediate priority is attending crucial ICC meetings in Dubai. “Nothing like a victory parade is planned as of now,” Saikia stated, adding that plans will be formulated upon the delegation’s return. Senior BCCI officials, including Saikia, are set to attend the ICC meetings from November 4th to 7th. During their discussions with the ICC, the board also intends to address the issue of the missing Asia Cup trophy that has yet to be delivered to the victorious Indian squad. The thrilling final took place on November 2nd at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where India secured a historic 52-run victory over South Africa to lift their first World Cup trophy. Batting first, India amassed an impressive 298 for 7, with Shafali Verma delivering a stellar 87 after replacing an injured player. Valuable contributions from Smriti Mandhana (45), Deepti Sharma (52), and a quickfire 34 from Richa Ghosh bolstered the total. South Africa’s chase was anchored by their captain Laura Wolvaardt’s century, but India’s disciplined bowling, spearheaded by Deepti Sharma’s exceptional 5 for 39 figures, proved decisive in sealing the monumental win. This triumph marks a significant milestone for women’s cricket in India, and the nation looks forward to an appropriate celebration.
