State Bureau, Naiduniya, Bhopal: The minister of the state government, which has failed to stop cyber fraud, has advised the public to be cautious of cyber fraudsters. Actually, it has come to the notice of the electricity distribution company that cyber fraudsters ask electricity consumers to press a number on a phone call through SMS, Whatsapp message or IVR technology.

    Fraud by showing fear

They scare you by saying that your electricity will be cut off after a few hours and for this you should press a special number to pay the bill or contact a special mobile number and deposit the outstanding amount. This is the pretext under which fraud is committed.

Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar has advised electricity consumers to be cautious of cyber fraudsters. He has also said that such SMS, WhatsApp messages and IVR phone calls are fake and should not be paid attention to.

Make payments from authorised payment centres

The minister has appealed to them to make cash payment of their electricity bills only at the company’s zone, distribution centre office, ATP machine or authorised payment centres like MP Online, Common Service Centre.

For cashless payment of electricity bills to consumers, facility of bill payment is also available through company’s portal (Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, UPI, Cash Card and Wallet etc.), Phone Pay, Amazon Pay, Google Pay, Paytm App, WhatsApp Pay and Mobile App.
