In Raipur, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai initiated a cyber security awareness campaign by flagging off the SBI Cyber Vigilance Rath. The campaign aims to educate the public and mitigate the rising instances of cyber fraud. Sai recognized the convenience digital technology provides but also cautioned about the associated risks, particularly the rise in cyber scams.

The cyber security awareness program will educate the public through audio-video messages, street plays, and puppet shows, aiming to enhance public understanding of cyber threats and preventive measures. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for individuals to learn about cyber fraud and the importance of being cautious to protect themselves. The campaign will focus on areas with a higher incidence of cyber fraud; 29 such hotspots have been identified across the state.

Sai encouraged citizens to protect their financial information by not sharing sensitive details, like passwords or OTPs, with anyone and to avoid clicking on unverified links. He highlighted that cybercriminals are constantly developing new methods to deceive people, and a moment of carelessness can result in financial loss. The goal is to empower more people with knowledge to keep them secure from cybercrimes.

To address the increasing number of online financial frauds, the State Bank of India (SBI), emphasizing its role as ‘the banker of every Indian,’ has launched the cyber security awareness initiative. The campaign will run from August 15, 2024, through November 30, 2025. The campaign rath will visit all 33 districts in the state, utilizing theatrical performances and street plays to spread awareness of cyber fraud techniques and ways to stay safe.

Bank officials have set up a helpline, 1930, where individuals can report financial fraud and seek guidance.
