A student from Hyderabad, Chandrasekhar Pole, was murdered in Dallas, United States. The 27-year-old was shot while working at a gas station on Friday night. The family is in deep mourning and has appealed to the Indian government for help in repatriating the body.

Pole had moved to the US in 2023 to pursue higher education, following his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in Hyderabad. He had finished his Master’s degree six months before and was working a part-time job while looking for full-time employment.

The Indian Consulate in Houston has reached out to Pole’s family and is coordinating with local authorities to investigate the murder. The Consulate has conveyed its deepest sympathy and is providing all necessary support. Telangana’s Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also expressed his sorrow and committed to offering the family any assistance they need.

BRS MLA Sudhir Reddy and former minister T. Harish Rao met with the grieving family in Hyderabad. Harish Rao expressed the family’s profound sorrow. Authorities are awaiting the issuance of the death certificate from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office to initiate the process of returning the body.

The incident in Dallas has renewed concerns about the safety of international students who work part-time jobs in the US, particularly during night shifts. The tragic events underscore the need for heightened awareness and safety measures. Recent incidents, including previous deaths involving students from Telangana in the US, highlight the risks faced by Indian students and workers abroad.
