AB de Villiers has shared insights into the ‘toxic environment’ that marred his time with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) during his IPL career. The former South African cricketer, who played for the team between 2009 and 2010, discussed the negative aspects of his experience. He participated in 28 matches, scoring nearly 700 runs, including a century and three half-centuries. He subsequently joined RCB in 2011 and remained with the franchise until he retired in 2021. Speaking on Cricket.com, de Villiers revealed the challenges he faced within the Delhi Daredevils. He described the team as being ‘in shambles,’ and mentioned the presence of ‘poisonous characters.’ He mentioned that he played alongside legends like Glenn McGrath and Daniel Vettori. He emphasized how those years were both positive and difficult and highlighted the lack of sufficient support during his stint.
