Palamu district in Jharkhand witnessed a chilling case of parricide disguised as domestic fury. A husband, enraged over refusal to return home, stabbed his father-in-law fatally and left his wife and her sister battling for survival in a frenzied knife assault.
The perpetrator, Lavkush Yadav, tied the knot with Chhatarpur local Rita Devi three years back. Their union soured quickly, confining Rita to her parents’ abode. Fresh from external employment, Lavkush stormed the in-laws’ residence Friday, pressuring Rita to depart with him.
Rebuffed, the dispute intensified. Seizing a knife, he lunged at Rita. Protective father Sunil Yadav’s intervention proved fatal as Lavkush stabbed him repeatedly. Sister-in-law Kavita Kumari, joining the fray, suffered grievous cuts while trying to shield the family.
Tragedy struck immediately with Sunil’s death at the scene. The attacker escaped as Chhatarpur police arrived swiftly, cordoning the area for evidence. Post-mortem formalities followed for the deceased, and the wounded duo was hospitalized in Medinagar, their lives hanging in balance.
