Tension simmers in Bihar’s Patna district after a brutal shooting over a minuscule land dispute left two dead and one wounded in Fatuha’s Rasalpur village. The Friday incident has prompted swift police action to quell rising unrest.
Identified victims Rajvanti Devi (50) and Devsagar Singh (55) suffered fatal gunshot injuries and breathed their last in hospital. Rajan Prasad, another victim, is receiving intensive care at PMCH.
Jitendra Kumar, Rajvanti’s son, detailed the confrontation: Years of animosity between Shravan Prasad and brother Rajkumar Yadav boiled over a two-inch land patch. During morning talks, Shivam Kumar Yadav, Rajkumar’s son, allegedly unleashed gunfire, hitting three people.
‘My mother and Devsagar uncle didn’t make it,’ Jitendra lamented, as the shooter vanished.
Villagers, gripped by fear, have called for immediate arrests, exemplary punishment, and support for the families. Police reinforcements have been stationed to avert escalation.
Leading the probe, Rural SP Kundan Kumar disclosed key recoveries: two firearms, a sword, and cartridge casings. ‘We’re probing every angle for a watertight case,’ he said.
Though contained for now, the episode reflects deeper issues of vigilante justice in land matters, pressing for community-level resolutions before they turn lethal.
