Thursday brought fresh salvos in Delhi’s ongoing political war of words, with BJP state president Virender Sachdeva prophesying jail time for Arvind Kejriwal over the notorious liquor policy corruption case. Targeting Kejriwal’s triumphant ‘Satyamev Jayate’ tweet on X, Sachdeva accused him of habitual chicanery after a court dismissed two ED applications tied to his summons evasion.

Kejriwal’s message sought to spin the ruling as total absolution from the ED’s excise scam probe, but judicial records show only the pre-arrest summons were struck down for technical reasons. The heart of the investigation – allegations of rigged tenders, policy tweaks for cartel gains, and illicit commissions – remains firmly on trial.

Sachdeva lambasted Kejriwal for sullying national ethos with his ‘victory’ claim, insisting no amount of social media spin erases his status as chief accused. He forecasted an inevitable guilty verdict, backed by forensic audits revealing revenue shortfalls and suspicious dealings during AAP’s rule.

Joining the chorus, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor debunked the post as misinformation, stressing that legal proceedings post-arrest supersede summons disputes. The public, he said, must recognize Kejriwal’s ploy to derail focus from core graft charges.

Delving deeper, the scandal erupted from a now-scrapped policy granting undue perks to private players, allegedly generating slush funds for AAP campaigns. Arrests of associates, seized documents, and CBI-ED synergy have tightened the noose. As hearings advance, Sachdeva’s bold prediction resonates amid AAP’s defensive posturing, signaling a pivotal chapter in Delhi’s anti-corruption battle.
