The Supreme Court has issued a firm order concerning stray dogs in Delhi-NCR, mandating their relocation to dog shelters within a two-month period. The court has categorized the situation as ‘extremely serious,’ providing instructions to the Delhi government and municipal bodies to address the presence of stray dogs. The court also issued warnings about obstruction of the process. Delhi’s Development Minister Kapil Mishra has affirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the order on schedule. The plan involves moving stray dogs to shelters, with the goal of eliminating the threat of rabies and addressing public safety concerns related to stray animals. The Delhi government is set to collaborate with all agencies to ensure appropriate execution of the order, while also attending to the proper care and welfare of the stray dogs.
