    The dish antenna, a common fixture on rooftops, plays a critical role in delivering satellite television. But how does it work? This article breaks down the technology behind these antennas and explains why signal disruptions occur during bad weather.

    The primary role of a Dish TV antenna is to capture microwave frequency signals transmitted by satellites. The antenna’s circular, parabolic shape is designed to focus these signals onto a single point (the focal point). The antenna includes a Low Noise Block (LNB) to receive these signals.

    The LNB is a critical component. It receives high-frequency signals from the satellite and converts them into lower-frequency signals. These converted signals are then sent through a coaxial cable to the set-top box.

    Once the signals reach the set-top box, they are in digital code. The set-top box, connected to your TV, decodes these signals and translates them into video and audio signals that your TV can display. In short, the dish antenna, the LNB, and the set-top box are all essential for delivering the picture and sound to your television.
