Citroen India’s C3 Aircross SUV has been awarded a 5-star safety rating for adult occupant protection by the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). The vehicle scored 27.05 out of 33 points for adult safety and 40 out of 49 points for child occupant protection, leading to a 4-star rating for child safety. The Aircross is the 22nd car to be awarded a 5-star rating under Bharat NCAP. However, it presents one of the lower adult safety scores among the 5-star rated vehicles. The crash tests revealed that the Citroen Aircross’s structure and footwell area were stable, withstanding higher loads. The SUV offered good to adequate protection across all body regions for adult occupants in both frontal and side impact assessments. Furthermore, the side pole test showed complete head protection, thanks to curtain airbags. In terms of child occupant safety, the Aircross offered full protection to both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies when using rearward-facing child seats with ISOFIX anchorages and support legs. The model also includes i-Size anchorages as standard, for straightforward and secure child seat installation. The standard safety features of the Aircross include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-hold assist, 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The vehicle incorporates a body structure made of High Strength Steel (HSS), Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS), enhancing its ability to absorb crash energy. Comfort and convenience features include LED projector headlamps, automatic air-conditioning, power-folding ORVMs, a soft-touch dashboard, rear AC vents, and strategically placed power window switches. The C3 Aircross offers a range of transmission options, encompassing 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, and 6-speed automatic. The SUV is available in both 5-seater and 5+2 seater configurations to accommodate various family needs. The engine choices include a 1.2L PureTech 110 turbocharged petrol engine generating 110 PS and 205 Nm, alongside a 1.2L PureTech 82 naturally aspirated petrol engine. The price of the Citroën Aircross varies from Rs 8.32 lakh to Rs 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
