India kicked off the T20 series with a resounding 48-run thrashing of New Zealand at Nagpur, led by captain Suryakumar Yadav’s astute leadership. Post-victory, SKY dissected the performance, showering praise on the batting unit that powered them to safety.

Leading 1-0, Yadav emphasized scoreboard pressure. ‘A hefty total is our best weapon,’ he stated. ‘Add dew to the mix, and it’s a dream scenario for us. We absorbed powerplay heat, then accelerated smartly – no one got bogged down.’

His own 32-run knock was pivotal. ‘Felt great from the get-go,’ SKY admitted. ‘Ideal slot to bat. Familiar territory, backed by solid net practice. Every shot was prepped over the past 2-3 weeks.’

Fielding got a thumbs-up too. ‘Continuous refinement is key. The lads delivered with intensity I’m thrilled about.’

Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner owned the shortcomings. ‘We needed the win, full stop. Good game overall; India’s purple patch is real. Phillips and Chapman shone, but bowling under pressure hurt. Total alertness required versus them.’

On the costly final over by Daryl Mitchell, Santner justified: ‘Right call per the pitch – spin suits his attacking style. Duffy excelled. Happy at 8, with options ahead.’

This win underscores India’s T20 prowess, with environmental factors like dew tipping scales further.
