The facilities of Chhattisgarh’s government hospitals are continuously expanding due to the efforts of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai. Following the Chief Minister’s instructions and the efforts of Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, the trust of the state’s patients in government hospitals has strengthened. Rampyare and Din Dayal from Jashpur are sharing their stories regarding the expansion of healthcare facilities.

Rampyare received free treatment in the Dirghayayu ward.

“My entire savings were exhausted in getting cancer treatment, I even had to sell my house. In such a situation, the Dirghayayu ward of the district hospital became a savior for me, where I am getting free treatment along with medicines,” says 60-year-old Rampyare Ram, a resident of Rajapara. Rampyare works as a peon in a government model school. For many years, he had been suffering from pain and burning in his stomach. Initially, when Rampyare underwent tests at a private hospital in Ambikapur, doctors, saying he had an ulcer, started treatment. After two years of treatment, when he didn’t get any relief, he got treated at a private hospital in Raipur. Tests revealed that he had stomach cancer. He was then referred to another private hospital, where he underwent treatment for a year. This treatment exhausted his entire family savings. The situation became such that he had to sell his house. He became burdened with debt. His children tried to get him treated by borrowing money wherever possible.

He then received information about free treatment at the district hospital. He started his treatment here. Now he doesn’t have to go to Raipur repeatedly for treatment. Rampyare says that his treatment used to cost between 90,000 and 100,000 rupees per month. Travel and other expenses were extra. Here, the treatment is free, and there is no need for travel expenses. He thanked Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai and the government for this.

Dirghayayu ward provided a ray of hope for Din Dayal’s troubles.

Kansabel’s cancer patient Din Dayal Yadav said that he had been facing many physical problems since September 2023. Initially, after getting checked, he was diagnosed with hydrocele and treated for it. But his physical illness continued to worsen, and his stomach swelled. One day, while working at home, he fainted and remained unconscious for 2-3 days while undergoing treatment in Kunkri. Since the nature of his illness was unknown, he also underwent tests in Ambikapur, where doctors advised him to go to the Medical College in Raipur. There, doctors found that he had kidney cancer.

Din Dayal, who worked as a mason and shouldered the entire responsibility of his household, caused fear to spread throughout his family due to his condition. However, the doctors explained that to avoid financial burden, he could get treated in his own district. When he came to Jashpur, his free treatment started in the Dirghayayu ward under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Din Dayal, who had found it difficult to even speak or get out of bed, is now gradually recovering and can now sit up on his own. Din Dayal and his wife thanked Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for this.
