In a significant move aimed at reinforcing party discipline, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended former Union Minister RK Singh, along with Bihar MLC Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal, for engaging in anti-party activities. RK Singh, who previously served as Union Power Minister and Union Home Secretary, had become increasingly critical of internal NDA politics, accusing some leaders of corruption and factionalism. He also publicly challenged the Election Commission’s preparedness to handle law and order during the Bihar elections, highlighting the violent incidents in Mokama. Singh’s call for voters to reject candidates with criminal records, even those within the NDA, apparently contributed to his suspension. Meanwhile, Bihar BJP has suspended Ashok Kumar Agarwal and his wife, Usha Agarwal, for allegedly fielding their son, Saurav Agarwal, as a VIP candidate from Katihar without adhering to party procedures. Both suspended Bihar leaders are expected to respond to the charges within a week, signaling a no-nonsense approach from the party leadership.
