A video documenting a dramatic confrontation between a husband and wife in a court in Sitamarhi, Bihar, is circulating widely on social media. The couple was in court for divorce proceedings, during which a dispute arose. The incident was witnessed by many. The husband had initiated the divorce proceedings in the Sitamarhi court.

The divorce case was prompted by the wife’s decision to marry her lover. Both were present at the court hearing. Despite the husband’s attempts at reconciliation, the wife remained unresponsive, fixated on her new relationship. She verbally attacked her husband, and the husband claimed she had married a Muslim man.

During the courtroom altercation, the husband stated that his three-year-old child was with his in-laws and he wanted custody. His wife had married a man of a different faith. The wife, unfazed by the criticism, instead focused her anger on her husband. The husband’s attempt to hold her hand further fueled her rage.

The wife then turned on the spectators, accusing them of being shameless. She emphasized that her husband was holding her hand and everyone was watching. The husband then released her hand, and she continued to insult him as she walked away. She repeatedly asked why her husband was causing a scene in court. The husband also spoke to the media.

The husband shared that he is from Padumker village in East Champaran. His wife’s parents support her in this matter. He has a three-year-old son who is with his maternal grandparents. He wants to divorce his wife and keep his son with him. A village council had met at his in-laws’ place, located in Nunoura village under the Mahindwara police station. The council had asked his father-in-law to return his son.

Subsequently, his father-in-law left with their son. The wife has been with her lover for a year and they have a daughter.
