Development Works Worth ₹1 Crore to Be Undertaken When Villages Become Naxal-Free

Special Provisions in Chhattisgarh’s New Naxalite Surrender Policy

Raipur, April 14, 2025 / In Naxal-affected Chhattisgarh, the government will now provide more incentives to Naxalites who abandon violence and return to the mainstream of society. Under the new Naxal surrender policy prepared under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, those who surrender collectively will not only receive double the declared reward amount, but special development works worth ₹1 crore will also be carried out in Gram Panchayats declared Naxal-free.

If 80 percent or more active members of any formation unit of a Naxalite organization surrender collectively, they will be given double the reward amount declared against them. Along with this, if all active Naxalite and militia members in any Gram Panchayat area in highly Naxal-affected districts like Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Narayanpur, and Kanker surrender, and the Gram Panchayat is declared Naxal-free, developmental works worth ₹1 crore will be sanctioned there.

Under the new policy, if both husband and wife surrender, they will be considered separate units and will be given the benefit of separate rehabilitation schemes. However, if both are considered a single unit in any scheme, benefits will be provided accordingly. The reward amount will be determined separately for both.

Relief and assistance amount to the surrendered Naxalites will be provided from the budget of the Home Department. The District Collector will have to ensure that the entire amount is provided to the concerned person within 10 days of surrender. If criminal cases are already registered against any surrendered Naxalite, a sub-committee of the Council of Ministers may consider terminating these cases, considering his contribution to Naxalism eradication and good conduct for up to 6 months.
