During a digital meeting, Dr. Sanjeev, a JDU MLA known for his dissenting views, criticized the ongoing caste census in Bihar. He questioned the rationale behind it, suggesting that it lacked a clear purpose. He advocated for an economic census instead, believing it would yield more valuable insights. Dr. Sanjeev clarified that he has no personal issues with Nitish Kumar, though he doesn’t endorse anyone else within the JDU after Kumar.

Dr. Sanjeev stated that speaking the truth requires a strong character. He emphasized that he speaks frankly because he is certain of his stance. This forthrightness has sometimes caused him difficulties.

He mentioned that some individuals within his party appear to be stirring controversy. He has no issues with Nitish Kumar, who maintained a close relationship with his father and supported his political aspirations. He also stated that certain people within the party are seemingly unhappy with his work in his constituency, where he often raises important issues.

Dr. Sanjeev also discussed the pressing issues faced by farmers in Bihar, emphasizing that these issues transcend caste boundaries. He noted that receipts haven’t been issued in many areas for nearly a decade, leaving farmers without access to compensation for crop damage or benefits from schemes like the PM Awas Yojana. He has been actively raising these concerns since 2021, seeking a resolution with the Governor.

He questioned the government’s recent actions, such as providing funds to laborers for Durga Puja, when similar measures should have been implemented previously. He also criticized the state’s flood management practices, pointing out the absence of audits despite considerable expenditures. He suggested that connecting rivers could help alleviate the flood problem, but it seems to be deliberately overlooked due to the potential for misuse of public funds.

Dr. Sanjeev expressed his dissatisfaction with the caste census, questioning its underlying purpose and arguing that it lacks any real value. He reiterated his opposition to it and dismissed any intentions of retiring from politics. He emphasized the need for more practical solutions and inquired about the census’s actual impact, particularly on employment and living standards. He concluded by stating that Bihar has become a state that exports labor.
