Beyond shopping scams, e-greeting cards sent during festivals have also become targets for cyberattacks. Quick Heal warns that these cards can harbor Trojan mobile apps, which can hack into devices and send messages to contacts, requesting money. Victims often send small amounts, which further enables the criminals. Cybersecurity firms like Kaspersky and Akamai stress that AI-generated frauds are very hard to detect. Traditional pattern-based security systems are not effective against these scams because the methods of fraud are continually evolving. Experts advise increased vigilance as recovering lost money is nearly impossible.
