The introduction of E20 petrol, a fuel with a 20% ethanol blend, has led to an increasing number of complaints. Several vehicle owners have reported issues with fuel economy and engine malfunctions. The recent case involving a high-end Ferrari that broke down after using E20 petrol has sparked considerable discussion across social media platforms.

Rattan Dhillon, a social media user and influencer, shared an image on X (Twitter) showing the Ferrari covered and parked on the side of the road. According to Dhillon, the car, owned by a friend, had recently been filled with E20 petrol, after which it would not start. Technicians later determined that the ethanol-blended fuel was the cause of the problem.

Dhillon expressed frustration over the cost of owning the vehicle and the issues encountered, highlighting that this situation is not uncommon for luxury cars. He explained that the phase separation issue is caused when the fuel sits unused for a period of time. This leads to engine starting problems. He tagged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in his post to express his disappointment.

Auto experts recognize the problem, confirming that vehicles not designed for E20 are vulnerable. These can cause corrosion and fuel system issues. A recent test showed that only certain fuels don’t contain ethanol. The case of the Ferrari underscores rising concerns among owners. The government’s promotion of ethanol-blended fuel presents challenges for owners of expensive vehicles, leading to the need for government attention. The developments surrounding this situation will be closely monitored.
