All main banks, telemarketers but to register their SMS templates: TRAI
All main banks and telemarketers have didn’t register the SMS (brief message service) templates and comply with different regulatory necessities to keep away from scrubbing of their industrial communication to customers, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) mentioned. Though the Trai would individually notify all these entities, the regulator has requested all principal entities, which use bulk messages to satisfy all regulatory necessities instantly.
“Despite repeated communication, all major banks and big telemarketers sending SMS have failed to fulfill regulatory requirements … Trai has called for further reports from TSPs (telecom service providers),” the telecom regulator mentioned, including in the interim, all types of industrial communication by way of messages shall be allowed. On March 8, Trai requested telcos to implement the norms for SMS scrubbing after a delay of practically 2 years. Services reminiscent of OTPs and different industrial communication suffered an outage on the day, prompting the Trai to droop the norms for seven days.
