Over 6 crore ITRs filed until 30 July: Income tax dept
New Delhi: More than 6 crore tax returns have been filed for revenue earned within the 2022-23 fiscal 12 months as of Sunday night, the revenue tax division has mentioned. Of the full returns filed, 26.76 lakh have been filed on Sunday.
“We specific our heartfelt gratitude to all taxpayers and tax professionals who’ve contributed to reaching this exceptional milestone. Their cooperation and promptness have been instrumental on this profitable endeavour,” the tax division mentioned in a tweet.
It urged people who find themselves but to file their revenue tax returns (ITRs) to finish the method on the earliest and keep away from lacking the 31 July deadline.
“For those that are but to file their ITR for evaluation 12 months 2023-24, we urge you to file on the earliest to keep away from the last-minute rush. As the deadline approaches, our group is dedicated to helping you in each approach attainable,” the tax division mentioned.
According to the revenue tax division, anybody whose complete revenue from all sources is larger than the exemption restrict should file their revenue tax returns. If the deadline is missed, taxpayers can file ‘belated return’ which is topic to a penalty.
Those who file their returns after the due date however earlier than 31 December should pay a superb of ₹5,000. If filed after 31 December, the superb will increase to ₹10,000.
