A significant accusation has been leveled against the Jharkhand administration: that it is orchestrating new criminal events to divert attention from and conceal existing illicit activities. State BJP President and Leader of Opposition, Babulal Marandi, voiced these concerns, stating that the government and its systems have developed a habit of fabricating incidents to cover up crimes. Marandi pointed to the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) operations in Dhanbad’s coal mafia network, which have reportedly unearthed damning evidence. The situation is described as particularly dangerous, with allegations that top police officials, allegedly enriched by the coal trade’s black money, are actively working to permanently ‘neutralize’ key figures within the mafia. This measure is reportedly intended to prevent them from cooperating with the ED and revealing damaging truths. Intelligence suggests that individuals currently under ED scrutiny are targets for assassination to ensure their silence. The opposition leader warned that the state has a history of ‘evidence elimination’ through staged encounters, a practice aimed at suppressing facts rather than upholding law and order. He referenced a past scandal involving a DGP accused of orchestrating contract killings and setting new records for corruption, with even ruling party members voicing criticism. Marandi urged the ED to be highly vigilant, emphasizing that truth is suppressed in Jharkhand, while deceit prevails. He concluded that when political authority, law enforcement, and organized crime converge, the subversion of justice becomes inevitable.
