    Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the centenary year celebration program of Government Jagtu Mahra Bastar High School

    Chief Minister announced Rs 1.5 crore for the renovation of Jagtu Mahra Bastar High School along with the construction of a post-matriculation hostel building.

    Raipur, November 17, 2025/Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai today participated in the centenary year celebration program of Government Jagtu Mahra Bastar High School in Jagdalpur. Addressing the centenary celebration of Bastar High School, Chief Minister Mr. Sai extended his hearty congratulations to the school family on the centenary year. He said that education is the root mantra of development, and life is incomplete without education. Education has had immense importance in India since ancient times. Scholars used to come from abroad to gain knowledge in prestigious universities like Nalanda and Takshashila.

    Chief Minister Mr. Sai said that institutions like Bastar High School in the Bastar region and Narhar Dev Vidyalaya in Kanker have been important centers of education. He mentioned that when this school was built in 1926, there must have been a severe lack of resources, but in the development journey of the last hundred years, this school has produced countless bright students who have brought laurels to the school by contributing significantly in various fields. Many of these former students are present at this ceremony today. He expressed his best wishes for the continued progress of the institution.

    Chief Minister Mr. Sai congratulated everyone on the completion of twenty-five years of the state’s formation. On this occasion, he announced Rs 1.5 crore for the renovation of Jagtu Mahra Bastar High School and the construction of a post-matriculation hostel building. He also assured that all other needs of the school would be met on priority.

    Chief Minister Mr. Sai presented two drones provided by Mr. Shailendra Singh Thakur to the school as tokens. Furthermore, Mr. Shailendra Singh Thakur also agreed to provide 50 drones to the school, which will further promote technical education.

    During the program, Chief Minister Mr. Sai unveiled the centenary celebration plaque at Jagtu Mahra Government Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Jagdalpur. He also inaugurated two smart classrooms built in memory of the late Mr. Thakur Devendra Singh and the late Mrs. Sharda Thakur. The Chief Minister planted a Parijat sapling in the school premises under the ‘A Tree in Mother’s Name’ initiative.

    The ceremony formally commenced with the hoisting of the centenary flag and the lighting of a lamp in front of the image of Goddess Saraswati, the giver of knowledge.

    Chief Minister Mr. Sai served food to the school students at a feast organized in memory of the father of the Chairman of Chhattisgarh Beverages Corporation, Mr. Srinivas Rao Maddi. Additionally, he paid tribute to the seven former students of Jagtu Mahra Bastar High School who were martyred while serving in the police and security forces by offering flowers at their portraits.

    On this occasion, Education Minister Mr. Gajendra Yadav congratulated the school on its centenary celebration and said that this day is extremely glorious for this historic school, which started in 1926 before independence. This is a memorable moment for former teachers and former students. He said that many students from this institution are playing an important role in the development of society through various services. He urged the current students to learn from their elders and assured them that all the needs of the school would be met.

    Mr. Kiran Deo, a former student of the school and MLA Jagdalpur, shared his experiences and said that in the undivided Bastar district, Bastar High School and Narhar Dev High School of Kanker were the main educational institutions where students from the entire region studied. He mentioned that former students of this institution are serving society today as IAS officers, doctors, engineers, professors, successful businessmen, and entrepreneurs. He paid homage to the contributions of the old teachers and requested the renovation of the school and fulfillment of its other needs. At the beginning of the program, the Principal of the school, Mr. B.S. Ramkumar, acquainted everyone with the glorious history of the school through a report.

    On this occasion, Forest Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap, Member of Parliament (Bastar) Mr. Mahesh Kashyap, MLA (Chitrakot) Mr. Vinayak Goyal, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Beverages Corporation Mr. Srinivas Rao Maddi, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Scheduled Tribes Commission Mr. Roopsingh Mandavi, District Panchayat President Mrs. Vedvati Kashyap, Mayor Mr. Sanjay Pandey, Commissioner Mr. Doman Singh, IG Mr. Sundarraj P., Collector Mr. Haris S., Superintendent of Police Mr. Shalb Sinha, along with former and current students of the school, were present.
