The Election Commission (EC) has scheduled a press conference for Sunday, August 17th, at 3 PM in the National Media Center, Delhi. This event comes amidst growing criticism from opposition parties concerning the integrity of voter lists, specifically the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar, as well as accusations of vote theft made by Rahul Gandhi. The precise agenda of the press conference remains undisclosed, but it is expected to address the accusations aimed at the Election Commission. Historically, the Election Commission has primarily held formal press conferences for the announcement of election schedules. The upcoming press conference is seen as an exception to this rule. Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the voter lists have been manipulated, raising concerns about the impartiality of the electoral process. He has repeatedly accused the Election Commission of manipulating voter data and claimed that vote theft occurred in specific states to benefit the BJP. The Election Commission has requested that Rahul Gandhi provide the names of individuals who he believes were wrongly added or removed from voter lists and to submit a signed affidavit to support his claims.
