TVS is at the forefront of the electric two-wheeler market after achieving the highest sales in September. Bajaj, known for its Chetak scooter, took the second position. A major development is Ather Energy’s surpassing of Ola Electric in sales. Data from Vahan reveals that Ather sold approximately 16,558 units last month, whereas Ola’s sales decreased to 12,223 units. TVS led the market with 21,052 units sold, and Bajaj Chetak followed with 17,972 units.

Ather has been steadily rising and is now demonstrating significant growth. A large portion of the company’s sales now come from outside South India. Ather holds the top position in all southern states. Its key markets outside the South include Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Ather has focused on Middle India, which resulted in an expansion of its outlets from 49 in March 2024 to 109.

Ola Electric has been experiencing a continuous decline in sales. Approximately 70% of Ather’s total sales come from the Rizta electric family scooter. The company plans to surpass Bajaj Auto and secure the second position, with a current difference of about 1,500 units. Ola Electric’s sales have consistently decreased since the start of the year. The company initially mentioned registration issues, but the sales decline has persisted.

Hero MotoCorp’s Vida made strong gains in September, selling 11,856 units, nearing Ola Electric. Vida’s sales have been enhanced by its recent Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme, reducing the initial e-scooter cost.
