An important medico-legal awareness and medical check-up camp was organized in Koderma for senior citizens residing at the Jhumritilaiya old age home, under the directive of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi, and conducted by the District Legal Services Authority, Koderma.

The camp provided an opportunity for elderly residents to learn about their legal rights while also receiving essential health screenings. A significant aspect of the event was the live online viewing of a ceremony from Ranchi. This ceremony marked the inauguration of the Mother Teresa Clinic at an old age home in Nagri, Ranchi, by the Executive Chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, and included the distribution of medical aid and welfare benefits.

Addressing the attendees, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Bal Krishna Tiwari, stressed the ethical duty to respect senior citizens. He pledged the District Legal Services Authority’s commitment to upholding the rights and fundamental entitlements of the elderly, noting that respect for elders is crucial for societal advancement. He highlighted the honor the authority feels in serving senior citizens.

Tiwari urged the youth to learn from their elders and to actively care for their needs. Gautam Kumar, Secretary of the Authority, reaffirmed the commitment to providing free legal aid for the elderly to protect their rights and entitlements. He promised to extend all possible assistance to ensure the welfare and comfort of the old age home residents.

The Koderma Health Department provided comprehensive medical check-ups for all participating seniors. The Principal District Judge instructed the medical personnel to maintain consistent health monitoring and to ensure an adequate supply of medicines for the residents. He also took the time to speak with the seniors, inquiring about their well-being and assessing the facility’s overall management.

Additionally, the District Legal Services Authority and the District Administration jointly distributed essential items, including blankets, shawls, caps, woolen garments, sweets, and other daily necessities, to the senior citizens, contributing to their comfort and care.
