In an era when multi-starrers defined Bollywood, ‘Farishhte’ stood tall as a symbol of unity and valor. Director Anil Sharma commemorated its 35th anniversary with an emotional X post on Sunday, unearthing old posters and rekindling golden memories.
His words captured the essence: ’35 years of Farishhte—a tale of bravery, sibling love, and fate. When Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Sridevi, and Sadashiv came together, the silver screen became legendary. Time flies, but icons endure. They live on in our hearts.’
Directed by Anil Verma and released February 22, 1991, the film centered on brothers Veeru and Dheeru seeking retribution against a ruthless king after a family tragedy. Featuring Rajinikanth, Jaya Prada, and a powerhouse cast, it delivered non-stop thrills.
The music, composed by Bappi Lahiri, was revolutionary. Evergreen hits such as ‘Tere Bina Jag Lagta Hai Suna,’ ‘Saat Kunwaron Mein Ek Kunwari,’ and patriotic anthems fueled its success, with voices from Mohammed Aziz, Lata Mangeshkar, and Anuradha Paudwal adding soul.
Produced by Satti Shourie and Mona Shourie Kapoor, this 188-minute epic was Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna’s swan song together. Sharma’s post highlights its lasting appeal, inviting a new generation to discover this blockbuster’s charm amid today’s fast-paced cinema.
