Fresh disclosures from Mumbai Crime Branch paint a chilling picture in the Rohit Shetty residence shooting case. Primary arms supplier Asaram Fasle, arrested recently, has been a Bishnoi gang fixture for four years, masquerading as a mechanic while arming operatives.
A Malavli native in Pune, Fasle toiled in a Varje garage for a decade before succumbing to Shubham Lonkar’s sway. Lonkar, the architect of the Baba Siddique killing and Bishnoi insider, inspired Fasle to enlist, viewing gang membership as a shortcut to local notoriety.
Fasle was well-acquainted with initial arrestee Swapnil Sakat, connected through Lonkar. Acting on direct instructions, he provided Sakat with weapons ultimately used in the Juhu attack by an unknown assailant. Some of Fasle’s inner circle knew of his activities, fueling ongoing inquiries into their involvement.
Every one of the five detained men joined the Bishnoi outfit under Lonkar’s influence, chasing dominance. Details on Fasle’s weapon origins and compensation are pending, with digital forensics targeting his phone for hidden trails.
Law enforcement remains vigilant post-attack, though the shooter evades capture amid widespread raids. The case exposes the insidious recruitment of blue-collar workers into syndicates, urging enhanced vigilance against escalating gang activities in urban India.
