Eddie Redmayne says his trans function in ‘The Danish Girl’ was a mistake

LONDON: British star Eddie Redmayne says taking part in a trans character within the 2015 movie “The Danish Girl” was a mistake.
Redmayne, who performed transgender artist Lili Elbe within the movie, mentioned he would not take that job if it was provided to him now. The function received him a Best Actor nomination.
There was some controversy over Redmayne’s casting within the movie as critics felt the function ought to have been portrayed by a trans actress.
And “The Theory of Everything” star agrees.
“No, I wouldn’t take it on now. I made that film with the best intentions, but I think it was a mistake.”
“The bigger discussion about the frustrations around casting is because many people don’t have a chair at the table. There must be a leveling, otherwise we are going to carry on having these debates,” the actor informed the Sunday Times when requested whether or not he would play the function once more if he had been provided it now.
The Oscar-winning actor presently stars in a brand new manufacturing of “Cabaret” at London’s Playhouse Theatre.
