Srikanth, a prominent figure in Tamil and Telugu cinema, has been arrested by the Chennai Police and placed in judicial custody until July 7th. The arrest is directly linked to a drug-related investigation, prompted by a positive drug test and suspicious financial activity discovered on his phone. The police investigation revealed connections between Srikanth and a drug network. Following questioning, he was brought before a magistrate, resulting in his detention. A bail application is expected to be filed. The Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) questioned Srikanth, during which time he allegedly confessed to purchasing cocaine approximately 40 times, totaling Rs 4.72 lakh via Google Pay. A government hospital confirmed the presence of narcotics in his blood. The case originated with the arrest of Prasad, a former AIADMK IT wing member, following an altercation at a Nungambakkam pub. Prasad implicated Srikanth as a regular customer. Further testimony from Pradeep, who claimed to have witnessed Srikanth using drugs at numerous club events and identified Prasad as the source, also contributed to the case. Srikanth’s film career commenced with the TV show Jannal – Marabu Kavithaigal in 1999, followed by his film debut in the 2002 Tamil film Roja Kootam. He has starred in various movies across both Tamil and Telugu film industries.
