The 71st National Film Awards, honoring the best of Indian cinema from 2023, saw a remarkable moment with the recognition of Treesha Thosar. She won the Best Child Artist award for her performance in the Marathi film ‘Naal 2,’ capturing attention even amidst the presence of Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, Mohanlal, and Rani Mukerji.
Thosar’s appearance on stage, dressed in a white saree, delighted Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji, with the crowd expressing their joy through cheers.
Reflecting on her achievement on Instagram, Thosar expressed her gratitude, saying, “I still don’t fully understand what I have achieved, but I do know this much—that through this award, the name of my Maharashtra state and my entire family has been elevated. And as my mother said, in the past 70 years of National Awards, I am the youngest child artist ever to receive this honor.”
She went on to thank her family, the film team, director Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti, the jury, and, importantly, her audience.
‘Naal 2’ is directed by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti and produced by Nagraj Manjule, in collaboration with Aatpat Production and Zee Studios. The original film, ‘Naal’, was also a National Film Award winner in 2019. The cast also includes Shrinivas Pokale, Nagraj Manjule, Devika Daftardar, Deepti Devi and Jitendra Joshi.
