A visiting Uttar Pradesh police group has began an investigation right into a case towards makers of internet collection ‘Mirzapur’, officers stated on Friday. Mirzapur Range IG Piyush Kumar informed PTI that within the FIR lodged on January 17, it has been alleged that the online collection tried to malign the picture of Mirzapur, which is ahistoric and spiritual place, having no relation with crime as proven in it. The FIR was lodged underneath Sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, supposed to outrage spiritual emotions of any class by insulting its faith or spiritual beliefs), 504 (intentional insult with intent to impress breach of the peace) and 505 (statements conducing to public statements to mischief of the IPC, together with sections of the Information Technology Act.
The Supreme Court on Thursday had sought responses from the Centre, Amazon Prime Video and Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd on a plea which has alleged that the online collection has fully tarnished the historic and cultural picture of the place by displaying it as a metropolis of goons. Mirzapur is understood for its Vindyachal temple dedicatedto Goddess Durga.
