Vapi’s industrial landscape is buzzing with hope after the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, a timely antidote to the challenges posed by US tariffs. This southern Gujarat hub, teeming with over 10,000 enterprises in pharma, chemicals, textiles, and more, anticipates a renaissance in global trade.
The agreement arrives at a critical juncture, as local exporters grappled with American duties disrupting their revenue streams. By granting tariff-free access to the vast EU market, it offers a viable alternative, strengthening India’s position as a manufacturing powerhouse.
Mangalam Drugs Director Dr. Kamal Wasi underscored the pharma sector’s windfall. ‘Europe’s doors are now wide open for our generic drugs, alleviating the tariff-induced crisis and spurring growth,’ he told reporters.
Shard Thakar, a veteran industrialist, praised the deal’s historic scope. ‘Led by PM Modi, this pact is the best yet, mitigating US tariff damages through seamless EU trade and providing much-needed stability.’
According to Satish Patel of Vapi Industries Association, the FTA spans benefits from pharmaceuticals to pesticides. ‘Dubbed the ultimate deal, it opens direct avenues in Europe, compensating for American setbacks and fueling the developed India vision,’ he declared.
Expectations run high for enhanced import-export dynamics, foreign currency inflows, and innovation. This strategic alliance could transform Vapi into a competitive export node, driving sustainable economic expansion.
