The English Premier League (EPL), the foremost professional football league in England, was established in 1992, replacing the previous First Division. It has since become a globally recognized and highly esteemed football competition. The 2025-26 season kicked off on August 15, 2025, with the Liverpool versus Bournemouth match, and is set to conclude on May 24, 2026. Fans worldwide can enjoy live matches through various OTT platforms. Twenty teams compete in the EPL each season. Each team plays two matches against every other team—one at home and one away—amounting to 38 matches per team and 380 matches in total. Points are allocated based on the outcome of each match: three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss. The club with the highest points total is crowned the EPL champion. The top four teams qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The top three teams enter the group stage, while the fourth-placed team enters the playoff round. The fifth-placed team earns a spot in the UEFA Europa League, and the teams in sixth and seventh place qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League. Manchester United and Liverpool are the most successful teams, each having won the league 20 times. Arsenal has 13 wins, and Manchester City has won 10. Liverpool FC are the reigning champions. In India, the EPL is available live on Star Sports Select HD 1, with live streaming on JioHotstar.
