In Patna, the capital of Bihar, a protest over the deaths of a brother and sister escalated into violence. The family and supporters took to Atal Path, where they damaged multiple vehicles and set some on fire. Police also faced stone-pelting from the protesters. The clashes left several people injured as authorities attempted to manage the situation.

The siblings were found dead inside a car in the Indrapuri area near Patna on August 15th. The car was located about 200 meters from their home. The children had gone to coaching, and when they didn’t return, the family started looking for them. Their bodies were found in a car near a vacant plot. Police have recovered the bodies and sent them for a post-mortem examination.

Police investigated the case and reviewed CCTV footage, but they found no definitive proof. The children’s father, Ganesh Kumar, and other relatives accused the coaching teacher of involvement. However, police cleared the teacher, finding that the children were returning safely from coaching. Police suspect the deaths may be accidental, but the investigation is still underway. The family alleges the children were murdered and were deliberately placed in the car. They had protested four days earlier and on Monday evening, accusing the police of negligence.

Patna’s SSP, Kartikeya K. Sharma, said that the investigation into the deaths is ongoing and that there is no indication of homicide at this time. The family has been updated on the situation. Actions will be taken against those who took the law into their own hands, and an FIR will be filed. Sharma stated that such protests and violent behavior are not acceptable, and there are proper channels for voicing concerns. He also emphasized that action can only be taken with evidence of murder and believes that the events appeared to be planned, resulting in injuries and the burning of two vehicles.
