Following the tragic death of 19-year-old Renna O’Rourke, who succumbed to the effects of inhaling keyboard cleaner as part of the ‘dusting’ trend, her family is now campaigning for awareness. The Arizona teenager suffered cardiac arrest after inhaling the substance, obtained without the knowledge of her parents, and was later declared brain dead. ‘Dusting,’ also known as ‘huffing’ or ‘chroming,’ involves inhaling household products to achieve a high, which is known to pose significant health risks. Renna’s parents are urging parents to monitor their children’s online activities and surroundings. They aim to prevent future tragedies by highlighting the dangers. The family has established a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses and therapy costs. This incident mirrors a similar tragedy in the UK, where a boy died in March 2024 due to the inhalation of toxic substances.
