A major road accident occurred on the Raipur-Jabalpur National Highway 30 in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha district on Sunday evening. The incident, which occurred near Akalgharia village in the Chilfi police station area, involved a head-on collision between a truck and a Bolero. This tragic event resulted in the deaths of five individuals and caused serious injuries to five more. After the accident, the area was filled with cries and distress. The Chilfi police responded to the scene and ensured that the injured were transported to the hospital for medical assistance.

It is understood that the victims, all teachers and their families, were residents of Kolkata. They were traveling to Bilaspur to board a train to Kolkata after a visit to Kanha National Park in the neighboring state of Madhya Pradesh. The accident occurred while they were on the highway.

The Bolero vehicle was carrying a total of ten occupants and had been rented from Satna. The collision occurred when the Bolero, while traveling on the Raipur-Jabalpur National Highway 30 near Akalgharia, collided head-on with a truck. The impact was so severe that the Bolero was completely wrecked. The driver of the Bolero died at the scene, and four others later died while receiving medical attention.

Local residents immediately rushed to the scene to help the injured. They helped to extract the injured from the damaged Bolero and alerted the police. The Chilfi police and the Dial 112 team arrived promptly and, with assistance from the villagers, transported the injured to the Bodla Community Health Center. One person was pronounced dead on arrival, and three others died during treatment. The five remaining seriously injured individuals were subsequently transferred to Kawardha District Hospital. The deceased included three women, a young girl, and a man. The police are currently investigating the accident to determine the cause and identify who was responsible.
