    Sudha Raghuraman will get the National Kumar Gandharva Award

    Classical singing and instrumental performances will be held at Pt. Kumar Gandharva Samaroh on 24-25 August in Dewas. Renowned musicians of the country will participate in the ceremony.

    Naiduniya Representative, Dewas: Pt. Kumar Gandharva Samaroh will be held on 24-25 August in the memory of renowned music maestro Pt. Kumar Gandharva. Renowned classical singer Sudha Raghuraman, New Delhi will be honoured with the National Kumar Gandharva Samman in this ceremony to be held in Malhar Smriti Mandir Auditorium.

    Other famous artists of the country will participate in the ceremony. Let us tell you that the Kumar Gandharva Samman has been established by the Madhya Pradesh government in the year 1992-93 to honour and encourage outstanding young talent at the national level in the field of music. Many musicians have received this award for their musical contribution.

    Classical singing by Sudha Raghuraman

    According to the information, the musical concert will start on 24th August at 7 pm. First there will be classical singing by Sudha Raghuraman. After this there will be a jugalbandi of flute and tabla by Tejas and Mitali Vinchurkar, Mumbai. On 25th August there will be a santoor recital by Shantanu Gokhale of Pune. The second presentation will be the singing of Shubhada Paradkar, Mumbai.

    The event will conclude with sitar recital by Niladri Kumar, Mumbai. The concerts on both days will be supported by Pawan Sem on tabla, Hitendra Dixit, Manoj Patidar, Yashwant Vaishnav, MV Chandrasekhar on mridangam, G. Raghuraman on flute and Deepak Khasrawal and Upkar Godbole on harmonium.

    Born into a musical family

    Sudha Raghuraman is basically associated with the Carnatic style of singing. She was born in a musical family, so it was natural for the music to run in her veins. Her grandfather was the famous Carnatic musician OV Subramaniam who has made an invaluable contribution to Carnatic music. Sudha received her initial training from her grandfather.

    After this, this journey of music continued on a melodious path and today Sudha Raghuraman is a distinguished name in classical singing. During an interview, Sudha had said that Carnatic music is slightly different from Hindustani music. Raga and taal are the same, but the practice is very different.

    The focus of Carnatic music is on songs. The Carnatic style of Indian classical music leaves a mark on the hearts of listeners with its distinct uniqueness and melody.
