The Bihar government is providing financial assistance to ease travel for people during the upcoming festivals. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary revealed that travelers commuting to and from Bihar from other states during festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, Chhath, and Holi will be entitled to special discounts on interstate bus services. A sum of ₹24.06 crore has been approved for this initiative.

The government will operate buses using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model during the 2025-26 festival seasons. Discounts will be available on Deluxe Non-AC, Deluxe AC, and Deluxe Sleeper AC buses. The necessary budget has been approved.

The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) has estimated the overall cost of the discount scheme at ₹24.06 crore. Since the current budget includes only ₹10 crore, the remaining funds will be allocated from the Bihar Contingency Fund (BCF).

The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the expansion of public transportation in Bihar. The government is focused on ensuring smooth and safe journeys for residents of Bihar and those returning home. The Bihar government has approved an allocation of ₹24.06 crore to facilitate special discounts on interstate bus operations.

In a separate announcement on social media platform X, the Deputy Chief Minister mentioned that the central government will operate 12,739 special trains to Bihar for the Diwali and Chhath festivals this year. This represents a substantial increase from the 7,500 trains provided in 2024. Notifications for 8,591 of these trains have already been issued. Samrat Chaudhary stated that this decision reflects the Modi government’s dedication to supporting the homecoming of millions of Biharis during the festival season.
