Ratlam. The engine of the DEMU train running between Indore and Ratlam caught fire between Runija and Pritam Nagar. Efforts are on to extinguish the fire, but the fire brigade is unable to find a way to reach. Local people and railway employees are busy controlling the fire at the spot. The DEMU train was going from Indore to Ratlam.
Local farmers helped extinguish the fire using their motor pumps and pipes. Due to his promptness the fire was brought under control. After the incident, an alternate engine will be used to bring the train to Ratlam. Understanding the seriousness of the situation and giving priority to the safety of passengers, the Railway Administration has ordered an investigation.
In recent times, there have been frequent accidents in DEMU trains, which includes a major fire at Pritam Nagar station in April 2023.
