Pakistan is currently struggling with the TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) and other insurgent groups, such as the BLA. The Pakistani government has consistently accused the Afghan Taliban of supporting the TTP. Allegations include providing refuge to TTP militants. A recent report provides new insights.

The report, published by Pakistan Today, states that the Afghan Taliban is providing regular financial assistance to the TTP. This aid includes a monthly payment of approximately 30 lakh Afghanis (equivalent to $43,000 USD) to the family of TTP leader Noor Wali Mehsud.

This funding is reportedly used to purchase weapons, build military infrastructure, and launch attacks against Pakistan. The report also claims that the Taliban provides safe havens and training camps for the TTP in provinces like Kunar, Nangarhar, Paktika, and Khost. These areas allow the TTP to expand its recruitment and operational capabilities.

The report also mentions that the Taliban has given shelter to TTP commanders and fighters. This has enabled them to reorganize, strengthen their networks, and conduct cross-border attacks. Moreover, the TTP also raises funds through various means, including criminal activities, extortion, donations, and funding from other major terrorist groups.

Pakistani officials have long accused the Afghan Taliban of backing the TTP. However, the Taliban has repeatedly denied these accusations, stating that Pakistan’s security issues are an internal matter to be resolved at home. The issue of the TTP has often led to disagreements between the two.
