The Kia Syros EV, a forthcoming electric SUV, has been spotted during testing in India. The test took place at a charging station in Kochi, where the vehicle’s design was partially covered with camouflage. Key design elements, such as the window line, roof rails, pillars, shark fin antenna, and body-colored ORVMs, were visible and appear similar to the existing ICE version. There were no obvious changes to the front and rear lighting.

Design alterations expected for the EV include potential changes to the grille and the placement of the charging port. EV badging on the exterior and green brake calipers may also be added. The compact electric SUV is likely to retain its existing dimensions.

Inside, the cabin might feature minor updates, including new trims and upholstery. The Syros EV could also come with an instrument cluster that incorporates EV-specific software. The feature set is anticipated to be similar to the ICE-powered version, allowing the EV to be well-equipped and spacious within its segment.

While detailed specifications of the Syros EV are not yet available, it is speculated to share its powertrain with the Hyundai Inster EV, expected to launch in India in 2026. The Inster EV globally offers two NMC battery pack options – 42kWh and 49kWh – with potential ranges of 300 km and 355 km, respectively.

When launched, the Kia Syros EV will compete with models like the MG ZS EV and Tata Punch EV, aiming to be one of the most affordable electric cars in India. The base variant is expected to start at around ₹14 lakh, while the top-end trim could reach ₹20 lakh. The Kia Carens Clavis EV is currently Kia’s most affordable electric SUV in India, with prices ranging from ₹17.99 lakh to ₹24.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
