A critical situation is developing as the water levels of the Swarnarekha and Kharkai rivers have escalated beyond the established danger levels, triggering an alert from the authorities. The rising water levels pose a risk of flooding in the low-lying areas, and the administration is urging residents to exercise caution. At the Mango Bridge site, the Swarnarekha River’s water level has been recorded at 122.46 meters, which is higher than the danger level of 121.50 meters. Concurrently, the Kharkai River at the Adityapur Bridge reached 131.00 meters, well above its danger level of 129.00 meters. This persistent rise in water levels has heightened the administration’s concerns. The district administration and disaster management teams are operating on high alert, intensifying surveillance in the sensitive zones. The public is advised to avoid spreading or believing unverified information and to strictly adhere to the guidance issued by the administration. Public announcements are being made in the low-lying areas. Rescue and relief teams are prepared to handle any emergency. Evacuation of residents in low-lying regions to safer locations may be necessary if water levels continue to surge. The public is strongly advised to avoid the riverbanks and to immediately contact the provided toll-free number or local administration if any emergency arises. It is essential to provide special attention to the safety of children and the elderly. Residents are encouraged to remain alert and prioritize their safety, with the administration closely monitoring the situation and working to minimize any potential harm.
